雲になる日シリーズ / a day to become cloud

雲は水の変化した姿の一つです。雲から雨が降り、降った雨は川になって海へ流れ込み、再び蒸発して雲になります。水の姿は刻々と変化しながらこの地球上で循環しています。そして水は生命の営みに絶対欠かすことができません。
私たちも雲のように地球上の循環において必要不可欠なものになりたいと考えています。自然と向き合うことで私達「人」も水のように自然の現象の一部なのだという視点を認識して生活ができたらと思うのです。
本作品は2011年3月11日に発生した東日本大震災をきっかけとなり生まれました。便利さを追求するがあまり、人が自然の一部であることを忘れてしまいがちな時代に、生き方の原点に立ち返り制作した作品です。
太陽光を利用する青写真の手法を用いて制作しており、被写体は木村が訪れた土地の文化や自然、暮らす人たちです。青は空を、白は雲に見立てています。

A cloud is one of variant form of water. Rain falls from the clouds. Falling rain streams into river, flows to the sea, and then evaporates to be a cloud again. Water transforms its form while respecting the earth’s circulation mechanism but water is always essential for our planet and life.
Kimura hopes that we, as human beings, could be in existence which is essential to the earth, like cloud. He believes it is important to recognize that we are a part of nature and face the laws of nature so that we would be able to live in nature.
This artwork was created after the Great East Japan Earthquake of March 11, 2011. In the era which we tend to prioritize our convenience and forget that we are a part of nature, Kimura was trying to grasp the very essence of life in order to express his message through art.
Utilizing the principle of cyanotype method, Kimura created original gigantic blueprint ( from 3 meters x 5 meters average ) on cotton canvas. The objects were selected at where he created those art pieces, which symbolize its local culture, people and nature. Blue represents sky and white for cloud.
